What to look for
The interesting names are rarely the top of the list by listeners. Sort by newest and look at artists in the low thousands who dropped this week. The gap between "just released" and "first email from a label" is where deals get made.
Follow the label field
Many DMV artists release through DistroKid or their own imprint. That usually means they still own their masters, which matters if you are thinking about licensing or a distribution deal instead of a full signing.
